«Это был замечательный вечер! Действительно настоящая встреча с Алёной Владимировной! Несмотря на печальный контекст, во многих и меня, в частности, вселилось возвышенное, просветлённое чувство! И во многом благодаря пению хора (что было приятным сюрпризом для всех), и благодаря проникновенной речи Дэвида Вонсбро, и напутственному слову и молитве отца Алексия, и, конечно же, изумительным фотографиям Алёны! Было такое ощущение, что мы действительно слышим и говорим с Алёной Владимировной! Непередаваемое ощущение: праздник, несмотря на горе; радость, несмотря на то, что наворачивались слёзы и щемило сердце.»

«This Tuesday, as you may well know, was an opening day of the photo exhibition „The World Through Alyona's Eyes“ at Moscow Museum of Education. The idea and organization of the exhibition was the initiative of two enthusiastic people who knew and respected Alyona — Ekaterina Gaevskaya and David Wansbrough. Ekaterina and David did enormous work of bringing the exhibition into reality in the shortest time possible, thus making a precious big surprise for us all.
The opening ceremony started with an exquisite performance of Moscow A Capella Choir. Their mesmerizing voices made our souls tremble in sync and rise to the heavens height.
During the break, David addressed the public with a touching speech about Alyona Gromushkina. David said that Alyona was a person of great faith, totally honorable and decent. She had absolute attention both to detail and overall conception. Alyona could see something in everybody, something that other people couldn't see. And all this could not but be seen in her journal and her photos.
David's speech was followed by a brief but full of emotions and grief speech by Alyona's son.
Then bishop Alexiy took the floor to address the public with a preaching and prayer.
Afterwards, there was a small reception during which the visitors could talk to each other remembering Alyona, walk around the room watching Alyona's photos and sharing their impressions of her works. At some point of his opening speech, David asked the guests to spread around the room and find a photo which, in their opinion, represented Alyona's personality best. But I believe it was nearly impossible to do, as, to my mind, all the photos reflect different facets of Alyona's versatile personality. In fact, her soul is shining through her pictures.
So if you knew Alyona Vladimirovna personally or even if you only heard of her, this exhibition is the invaluable chance to meet her again or to get acquainted with her, and to look at the world through Alyona's eyes. The exhibition will be open till March, 10. It is held at Moscow Museum of Education (Tretyakovskaya metro station, Vishnyakovsky lane, 12). Admission is free.»
