Lesson Plan competition for English Teachers
Dear teachers,
We are happy to invite you to take part in our lesson plan competition, marking the launch of the new TeachingEnglish Special Education Needs course.
All you have to do to take part in this competition and win our TeachingEnglish SEN online course is the following:
— Send your lesson plan with a clear SEN focus in a word or pdf format to SenCompetition [at] britishcouncil [dot] org by 5 Dec 2013
Could you, please, also indicate the following:
-do you teach in primary or secondary school?
-what is your class size?
-do you teach in regular school programmes?
Your lesson plans will be assessed against these criteria:
clear SEN focus,
creativity
lesson plan organization (level and number of learners, brief learner/class profile, clear achievable aims, clear rationale, anticipated problems + solutions, aids + materials, procedures, patterns of interaction, timings).

Дорогие друзья! Мы приглашаем вас принять участие в международной олимпиаде по английскому языку «The British National Corpus»!
Олимпиада проходит с 15 октября 2013 года по 25 декабря 2013 года.
Результаты публикуются на сайте 15 февраля 2014 года.
Все задания разработаны совместно с британскими лингвистами. Дипломы за участие в проекте содержат подписи разработчиков из Англии.
К участию приглашаются школьники, студенты любых образовательных учреждений СНГ.
В Олимпиаде выделены 2 номинации: 3-6 классы, 7-11 классы и студенты. Для каждой номинации разработан свой комплект заданий.
Олимпиада проходит в дистанционном режиме. Для участия в Олимпиаде педагоги, которые координируют деятельность своих обучающихся, присылают в Оргкомитет: заявку, квитанцию об оплате оргвзноса, бланки ответов учащихся в архиве
Организационный взнос расходуется на обеспечение деятельности Оргкомитета, составляет 105 рублей за однократное участие в одном конкурсе по одной номинации. Если от образовательного учреждения заявляется более 15 человек, тогда сумма взноса становится льготной – 95 рублей за однократное участие. Разница между полным взносом и льготным взносом может расходоваться на нужды Координаторов в образовательном учреждении (печатные расходы).

Международные олимпиады
Дорогие ребята, уважаемые педагоги! Дистанционный центр детского и юношеского творчества http://sch00l.ru/приглашает вас стать постоянными партнерами нашей виртуальной школы!
У нас на постоянной основе проходят Международные Олимпиады по предметам гуманитарного и естественно-научного циклов. Мы проводим 4 сессии в год: Осенний Тур, Зимний Тур, Весенний Тур, Летний Тур. Олимпиады разработаны грамотными методистами, и отличаются интересными творческими заданиями, с которыми сможет справиться каждый целенаправленный и мотивированный ученик. И главное — мы всегда отмечаем и награждаем деятельность учеников и их наставников: ученик получает сертификат за участие или грамоту Победителя (или Лауреата), педагог получает Благодарность за подготовку ученика к Олимпиаде, руководитель образовательного учреждения получает Благодарность за организацию Олимпиады и координацию деятельности педагогов и учащихся. Более того, приятный сюрприз для участников: денежные призы лучшим командам — тем учебным заведениям, которые показали наилучший результат.

The workshop «Developing speaking skills» , conducted on November 20, 2013 by Erik Lindell, got a very good feed back.The turnout was about 40 people.

Developing Speaking Strategies in the EFL Classroom In this presentation, participants will engage in a demonstration on how dialogues can be used to train language learners to become more independent communicators. In addition, a series of information-gap tasks and evaluation tools will be offered so that teachers can return to the classroom equipped with practical classroom applications that lead students toward becoming competent communicators in a second language.

Writing for Creative Expression In this workshop, the presenter will engage participants in a number of writing tasks that allow learners to express their creativity. The aim is to offer teachers ideas on how to motivate students to practice meaningful writing in a variety of ways. Demonstration tasks will include writing poetry on topics that are relevant to the students, writing collaboratively and writing for grammar and vocabulary development.

Using the Engage, Study, Activate Format in Designing EFL Lesson Plans
Tuesday, November 12 (MELTA event at the Publishing House The 1st of 
September 16:00 – 18:00)
The presenter will begin by leading a discussion that illustrates each step of this effective model for arousing interest in learning the language skills and for putting that knowledge to use in authentic exchanges of opinions, thoughts, feelings and ideas. Audience members then will participate in two demonstration lessons that exemplify this format. The ultimate aim is for teachers to come away with fresh ideas on how to get students willingly involved in their language learning for authentic communication purposes. This seminar will cast light on the new topics for MELTA Festivals 2013—2014

In this presentation, attendees will participate in a variety of information gap activities designed to give language learners opportunities to develop communication strategies such as negotiating for meaning, using gestures, dealing with uncertainty and retrieving linguistic knowledge. ince the holidays are just around the corner, these highly interactive tasks will be based on the themes of Christmas and New Years
