EFL Teachers Meeting in Kuzminky
I would like to express my profound gratitude to the English Language Office for the close attention to the problems in EFL teaching, for being so supportive and friendly. The ELO staff inspired the teachers of the center of education #825 and we ended up organizing the meeting for English teachers February 20, 2012. We appreciate you provided FORUM magazine which was a very good present for every participant.

2010 faces important dates related to American culture: the 100-th anniversary of O’ Henry’s and Mark Twain’s death. This same year also marks the 175-th Anniversary of Mark Twain and the 125-th Anniversary of his pinnacle work “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”.
In commemoration of the two brilliant American authors – Mark Twain and O’ Henry, Moscow English Language Teachers Association (MELTA), Institute for the Humanities and Informational Technologies (IGUMO IT) and newspaper “English” of the publishing house “The First of September” organized a special event dedicated to the lives and works of these outstanding people. The festival has brought together inspired and creative secondary school students as well as university students of English to commemorate, to honour and to remember Mark Twain and O’ Henry. The Festival was sponsored by the English Language Office and Public Affairs Section of the American Embassy in Moscow.

I hesitated when adding the word «Best» to the title of this article, 1) Because the best method of learning language is not the same from person to person, and 2) Because there are approximately eleventy jillion podcasts available, and I can't claim to have tried them all.
As a former ESL teacher and a person who tried several methods when learning Portuguese, from Rosetta Stone to private instruction to full immersion, I know every student has their own goal in mind when they set out to learn a language. Some of my students wanted to open the doors at work for jobs in English-speaking countries by focusing on business English. Some needed to pass a proficiency test at school, and some wanted to feel confident striking up a conversation. Some just wanted to understand what Chandler was saying on Friends. With that in mind, I dove into the world of ESL podcasts. While archived podcasts are useful, the topics (and slang) can be outdated, so I only included those that are currently being updated.
